The 280i is getting fairly close to completion now and as such I'm starting to think about replacing the illegal and old tyres on it, however I can't seem to find 205/60R/14 tyres anywhere. Tried various websites of mainstream tyre fitting companies and the Michelin, Bridgestone, Falken, Pirelli, Toyo and Avon sites.

Am I just blind or are these really that difficult to get hold of?

Is there an alternative wheel size that'll fit a 280i without issue that'll make things easier?

Will the standard 15" 350i lattice wheels fit? I'm assuming yes but you'll need to check if the speedo will be affected? I run Toyo Proxes 205/60/15. A cracking tyre in the wet and dry. Steve Strange (Douglas valley Breakers) is breaking a few 350i's at the moment and they have the standard lattice wheels. Might be worth making an offer?

195/60/14 might fit. It's only 1 cm smaller than what you've got.
205/55/14 will fit as well

Tyreleader has continentals in the first size for £36ish each delivered (but not fitted)

In the early days i used to use the Zeetex tyres on Delilah which were a soft compound but after a couple of very scary moments in the wet i changed to Falken 912, They were 195/60/14 and gave a good all round response...Even a bit of hard cornering in the wet....Don't try this at home folks....smile

On this side of the pond, it looks like Federal have about the only performance tyres available in the right 14" sizes. The big boys don't have any for a 280i.

I know that the tyres i used to get for Delilah were also for light vans...Not sure about the US as most of the trucks are a lot bigger than our puny ones..smile
