Does the report include what went on in the afternoon session Mrs Fish. i.e. Ban stands. That Nick Freeman isn't a man to mess with.....
Presume he was going on the 'hardship aspect"... on his wages. Cheee.

Not on the BBC website it doesn't.... I just posted it after I heard it on the radio
All a bit weird - his solicitor wasn't happy with some element of the morning's procedure (when he got 7 points, taking him to 13) so asked for the case to be re-heard in front of a different set of mags PM. He got 6 points the second time, so 12 in total and therefore was still banned for 6 mths.

That seems odd to me too, and I don't know the answer.
Driving without due care and attention is, I would have thought, something like an occasional minor error.
Tailgating at high speed is IMHO wilful malpractice, and ought to be regarded as dangerous.

Their defence was that this black Mercedes was tail gating him and he thought it was angry Blackburn fans trying to chase him (the previous day it was released in the papers about a big bust up).
The blacked out Mercedes was an undercover cop car....

I heard this last night:
Followed for 10miles by unmarked plod, doing up to 100mph, tailgating at least 5 cars in the process.
Originally charged with Dangerous Driving. This case was heard in County/Crown Court (can't remember words used), and after submissions by solicitor (mainly about being harassed by fans, including banging on car roof when turning up for training, hence D-Y thought the unmarked car was some fans following him, apparently, and was worried!), he was found not guilty!
Second charge of Without Due Care was heard...think I heard something about him admitting to that, or at least not denying that case existed (yeah, there IS a difference, but again my memory's not perfect)...and he was found guilty and given 6 points and fine, on top of his existing 6 gave him a ban.
Good! Speeding is one thing, tailgating is quite another. My first thoughts were that listening to the description of his actions, they were borderline between dangerous / without due care anyway.

Not exactly sure at this point without further research but is it not the case that the 6 points he got for due care taking him over will be expunged because of the disqualification, leaving 6 points on his licence from previous infringements to run their course and act as a deterent to further transgressions?

If he was continually driving like a turkey, got himself totted up for dwodc or dd offences, banning him would be OK. Driving at three figure speeds in the right conditions is perfectly safe however. The fact that it's illegal just shows we have laws that are intended to criminalise safe driving.
However back to Yorke, Mrs F's news snippet didn't mention the unmarked car tailing him for ten miles on the M61 before he was stopped. S Works could you or anyone hazard a guess as to why a dangerous driver should be allowed to put lives at risk for ten miles before being stopped? Waiting for a convenient moment for ten miles won't wash. That's probably two to three junctions on the M61.
The fact that he's a footballer should be irrelevant...but instead, it's drawing comments like "good!". Yesterday, I drove south out of Frankfurt airport on the A5 and I did 135mph. Ca124390234....does that make me an unsafe driver? Your answer, if true to your form, should be that if it was done in the right circumstances then absolutely fine. WE DO NOT KNOW THE CIRCUMSTANCES, and therefore CANNOT comment on his safety as a driver. That was a, quite frankly, naive comment from you.

Equally, if his driving was unsafe (as Turbobloke said above), then the unmarked car would have pulled him over along time in advance. How would it sound, after Mr Yorke's fatal crash "ah yes, guv, saw he was driving unsafely but thought we'd see how it turned out".. Urmmm no, it doesn't happen like that.
So what's my point? My point is that many have jumped to an ill-informed conclusion as to what happened, and his status as a footballer means you love it. If it happened to someone on PH, you can imagine the outcry of "cops trying to get money" etc. etc. All from the same people, too!
Me, I admit I'm jealous of footballers. Look at their lifestyle...£30k a week, cars we all dream of, a few hours of training a day, and they look good in shorts. Doesn't mean I love it when they get banned from driving, though, regardless of their taste in chrome wheels.
