Astons; the Public's View
Discussion
So, I entered an all-marques car show over the weekend. Being as it was here in the States, the majority were American, with a goodly number of foreign (mostly older British). Not being organized by marque, it was a 'park anywhere you'd like' event.
Just so happens that the first spot I came across was next to a very nice, white Porsche GT3. Perfect, I was next to a proper Euro GT! Any way, as the other car show participants and the general public strolled on by the very long lines of cars, they invariably went right by the Porsche as if it wasn't there, being drawn to my Aston like it was magnet. Many photos then ensued, with the poor GT3 ignored, except by the very few cognoscenti.
After an hour or so of this scene being repeated over and over, the owner of the GT3 must have decided he'd had enough and drove off. Oh well, the public does know what it likes!

Porsche 911's are very common place and most of it's variants all look similar. Aston's much, much less common on the street, they always get the attention.
I would imagine if you owned a 911 GT3 that you would be constantly saying to people "it's a gt3, not just an ordinary 911". As though they cared...

You would be surprised, most would not know the difference. Just like the average person wouldn't know an S550 from a S65 because at a glance the both look the same, not very special. We went to a local car show in Essex UK last weekend.Must have been three hundred cars on show. Our V8 Vantage was the only Aston there. We were surrounded most of the day with Guys and Gals saying an Aston was there dream car.And asked nicely if they could sit in it. I of course said yes. They all got out with a massive grin on their faces. Four separate people said "Now that is the car of the show"
I tried to play it down. But underneath it I totally agreed.

;);)Yes, it is amazing how many people say that Aston's are their favourite cars. They usually say that they have more class than a Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche etc. As nice as cars that Porsche are, there are an awful lot of them around. Probably see about 5 a day round where I live (South West of England). Be lucky to see 5 Aston's a month. I only have an i6 DB7 but it always get's a lot of attention.
