I apologise now if you don't have the bloody MS WMP9+ plugin installed as when MS tries to install it, your PC will crash

I figured it would be Micheal Angelo, he is a pretty talented guy!
Not many people have the confidence to call a song "Yngwie can't touch this".

p.s. for all the other guitarists out there I just picked up a set of pickups to replace those in my Strat from a company called Bareknuckle Pickups. They are handmade in North Devon and sound outstanding. Great service, great product and great price (cheaper than SD's or DiMarzios).
No stake in company etc, just a big thumbs up to a British craftsman who deserves to do well.

Yep Michael Angelo, very good guitarist and ambidexterous if you hadn't worked it out.

That was pretty awesome on a skills level.

Completely mastabatory on a musical level though

DanH, that's what I was thinking too.
As much as I enjoy technical stuff this looks a bit too much. Apart from showing the ability of playing with both hands (well, almost) I don't see much point in this.

Agreed. Awesome showmanship - but not really music.

And it really was somewhat "Spinal Tap" wasn't it!

I'll bet he can play an ordinary guitar amazingly well, though.

he looks as bored as I feel listening to it.

So yeah... technically good but musically complete dross. Are your favourate records/songs performed by technically proficient people or passionate people? The two are not mutually exclusive but all too often it seems that way.

mmmm I'll look into it, although I do like EMG humbuckers myself, although because most of them are active, they can be a pain in the arse to fit or need the guitar rewired.

The pickups are the Strat's greatest weakness, definately a worth while mod- nice one.

I was a bit hesitant to get the strat after the Les Paul but picked one up in a local shop and it was a "good un". Now the pickups are sorted this one will be a keeper. A few more mods maybe, roller nut and wilkinson locking trem, upgraditis is setting in.
EMG's are nice, I used to have an active set on an old Yamaha, they definately gave it a kick. Nowadays I prefer passive slugs as imo active circuitry can mask some of the natural tone of the guitar (a bit sweeping I know ). Not had a look at their passive range though....

It's like 1987 all over again

I notice that guitar has Floyd rose vibratos on both necks. How does that work? Does he have a roadie to wiggle his whammy bars while he plays?

If anyone wants to emulate their hero, I could build you a guitar like that, but you'll have to find your own case for it...

I think John Otway's mastery of the double neck guitar is much better

He plays a hinged double-neck and so can play on both fretboards simultaneously. Mind you he can only play 'Blockbuster', but the man is a genius - has to be seen to be appreciated

My brother has a couple of his DVD's, I think he plays one side and then swaps to the other side for the rest of the song. While I don't really like what he plays, he is technically very, very good.
Give me slash & his sloppy playing over this guy any time.

OK he might be a rock god but he's still human. Anyone else notice the string dampers he puts in place to stop the open strings ringing and ruining everything? Come on mate can't you play two guitars and damp the strings at the same time

[hijack]So while we're on music (and didn't realise there were so many guitarists here ) what's your guitar and setup and what style do you play? [hijack/]

I haven't played for a few years now but I've still got my Guitar and bits. Anyhow this is what I used to use:

Custom Fender Stratocaster USA Plus. Lace Sensors, TBX, Trem setter, LSR Roller Nut and Locking machine heads.

'73 Fender All Valve Musicmaster Bass, Laney GC 80 for more vloume.

Got other bits, and basses but that's what I used to use.

IIRC Jennifer Batten uses her producers thumb to damp the strings when she's recording any of her 10 finger tapping stuff.

Setup: currently got a Fender US Strat with upgraded pickups, a couple of Acoustics including a great solid top acoustic from Norman which was obscenely cheap for what it is.

The Strat goes through either Laney LC15 at home (via POD2) or when I am gigging (infrequently these days) a Laney GH50L & cab, TS9 overdrive pedal and a Boss chorus pedal. Basic but effective enough for the blues/rock stuff I like to bash out.

My names Dan, I play a Les Paul Custom & Marshall anniversary. I don't like finger tapping and big hair!

Just about to buy a Pod Pro rack thingy too so that I can practise without the amp.

OK 2-1 for the strats vs the Les Pauls. Come on guys who else plays Gibson?

Me I have several Ibanez guitars including a USA custom graphic purchased in 1992. Never found another guitar of any kind with an action so low that didn't buzz out. Beautifully made, unfortunately the Hoshino factory doesn't sell to the public anymore. Goes through a GT6 and a TSL122.

I have a '98 Ibanez Universe. Almost bought a Les Paul recently but hated the neck.
I would like to put my hands on a JEM as this is I think the closest I could get to the UV but they all look like crap and are way overpriced.

I've had a couple of Les Pauls before the strat, next guitar will be Les Paul - likely a gold top.
I worked in a pub with a guy who had a ice world custom graphic and was going to order one of the ibanez photo series. His first order was refused because his chosen picture was of his g/f's naked baps
