So, with a pretty heavy heart, I need to sell my Chimaera. 
Several reasons, not least a wedding to pay for and moving somewhere that I can't really keep her are the main ones (plus the Mrs won't drive it, and so only having 1 parking space will cause me some issues) and I am just not using her at all.
It is a hard choice, but needs must. However, there are 2 jobs that IMO, need doing but I am not sure if it is worth doing them before selling or not.
The first, and more serious one is the roof. When I was washing her in March (I think), I broke some of the stitching on the rear screen, so the drivers side top corner has come away. With some help, I have partially stitched it back up so it wouldn't leak, but it looks a bit rubbish. On the basis it will cost around £800 to get it all replaced properly, it is quite a large outlay on something I am going to sell.
The second, and lower priority job is the wood radio surround. It has split/cracked in a couple of places and does need doing although the main dash is fine.
Otherwise, before I sell her, I will get her serviced (she is due, last one was March).
Is it worth getting either of the 2 above done? I was of the opinion I would likely lose more not doing the roof than if I did have it done? If the roof was replaced, the exterior would be in fantastic condition as it had a respray last year. Monsterlime, with all due respect old boy, this is probably the worst 'thinly disguised' 'cry for help' 'marriage to pay for' 'big mortgage coming' 'sprog No2 on way' type of 'please help' 'need a reason not to sell' 'need assistance with the man maths' BUT.... 'I'll get this done' 'should I get that done' kind of I really really don't want to lose the Chim rally round lads please help type of post I've seen in a long long time.... My advice would be to drink some concrete, harden up, tell 'em all the TIV stays, and suggest they all get part time jobs to take the pressure off of you... this should be a simple and effective solution.... should I buy a new hood my arse

I agree with enrich, it will def sell better with a new roof so you must put an outrageous price on her
If she really must go and I would also try crying as a last resort in hope the family realise the huge thing you are doing for them is insane
But if she must go then yeah a new hood is very attractive to buyers? Goodluck with it.

Hmm..it might have been February, but I generally service on time rather than miles. But, when you put it like that, it seems pointless to do it again. At a push I reckon 1000 miles, but most likely less.I did investigate just doing the screen, but have been advised against it as the stitching never matches up with the old, so looks a bit rubbish. Therefore I was going to get the whole lot done, rear hood and re-cover of the hardtop.
Unfortunately man maths in this situation has failed me, and I just don't really see a viable way of keeping her. I am slightly consoled by the fact that hopefully by selling her to the right person, she won't get ruined just sitting on a drive never being used.
Don't stop trying to talk me out of it though.

This must be a sad decision so if the reality is someone else can use the car more then your probably right to sell.
The usual Tvr companies should do a nice job of the roof so go for it and find a nice new owner for her but don't give her away.

I am quite happy with the work done to the hood though. I got these chaps to do it - http://www.mazdahoodshop.co.uk/ And while it took a bit longer than I expected, they have done a good job.
Told me I can't take the roof down for 3 days though, to let it stretch, otherwise I might not get it back up again. That normal?
