Dark Souls 2 - How to install DLC?
Discussion
I have just got hold of "Scholar of the First Sin" which adds three lots of DLC to Dark Souls 2. (I didn't realise I'd be buying the actual game again, but never mind!) I have entered the code in the PSN store, and it downloaded three files, but they were only approx 100kb (not MB) each. From reading some walkthrough guides, it appears that I am not seeing the DLC content when playing the game, for example no NPC invaders in the Iron Keep level.
The game screen says I am using patch 1.10 and calibration 1.15.
Is there some extra step I need to carry out in order to unlock/install/download the extra content?

Apparently with Scholar Of The First Sin, the DLC chapters are just part of the game via the disc. But you probably already know that.
I picked this up the other day and I'm currently smashing through it with little else to play.
So far it generally seems to be working as a remix. It looks so, so much better at 60FPS. You can really blow through it quickly if you know what you're doing. I've charged on quite quickly and I've found myself stuck now. I've been to the end of Sinner's Rise but remembered you can't light the oil channels for the Sinner fight without having the key, which I think you get from beating the Sentinels. I could divert and fight The Pursuer proper at the castle, but IIRC that just gives you the 100% DMG shield and drops you at the Bastille on the other side of the tower where you met Lucatiel of Mirrah. Looks like I'm going to have to fight those Sentinels again...
So, how has the remix changed things? It's definitely an effort to make the game harder in some ways, but a big thing was the ring of binding being right next to the Dragonrider boss room. Now you don't have to beat the Old Dragonslayer to get it. Heide's Tower Of Flame has had a serious rejig. There are Heide Knights everywhere and if you move towards the Cathedral, two knights will actively engage you assisted by the Old Knights. Certainly makes for a change of pace, but tactics can be devised to safely whop them. The Dragon fight in front of the Cathedral was very cool, and I'm probably strong enough to flatten the Old Dragonslayer now without much effort.
On my first Dark Souls 2 game, I spent far too long at No Man's Wharf clearing out every enemy. It's been altered now to force you to take a different route through, with lots more snipers added in. I dropped the bridge and quickly fought the Flexile Sentry. Easily beaten.
It's not all perfect though. The addition of the extra Pursuer chases aren't exactly welcome and the addition of the Flexile Sentry in the tunnel before the Sinner fight is just a pain in the arse. It's difficult enough to fight in waist deep water, and respawns after death. So you could be looking at 10 painful fights if you want it gone for a clear run at the Sinner. I beat it once using poison arrows but they're finite. I need to see if I can use a spear or similar to cheese it at the doorway by the lift. Also, the hitbox on the cleaver wielding mummies around the Bastille is still terrible. They've got a neat new fireball attack too, but it's still s
te when you can't reliably wail on them because the hitbox is terrible and they get a grace period during some stagger animations.
I'm trying to remember where else I can go at the moment in my quest to level up, but I think I've gone as far as the game will let me at this point because I can't get through to the Copse until I've beat the Sinner and moved the mechanism in the tunnel on the way to the tower of flame.

I started this game with the normal version, then I received the Scholar of the First Sin special edition as a gift. It seems to have downloaded OK (see my first post in this thread) but not all the features are working.
I just hope I don't have to start a new game to get it working properly; I am about 100 hours into this one, Level 80ish and I just killed the big lava demon (Iron king I think?) after about two weeks and fifty attempts!
I guess there are much less people playing now, when I first gave it a go it was quite easy to find people to summon for boss fights, but now it's quite rare to even get one summon, let alone a pair of helpers to make a team of three. Of course, this makes it even more difficult!

Don't even bother with the DLC then (really, itst crap). The bosses there are pretty much dependent on high level summoning. The Dragon boss in the Sunken Crown chapter is just ridiculous, spending very little time on the ground and raining down poison, it took three of us a lot of effort to beat him!
I went and smashed the Pursuer tonight. I'd forgotten how good the Drangleic armour with the 100%DMG shield was. I cleared Flexile Sentry out of the corridor in Sinner's Rise by luring it back to the doorway and using the Kite Spear to chip it down. To finish, I tried the Ruins Sentinels. Almost had them too, but was killed healing when I shouldn't have. It won't take long to beat them, they seemed a lot easier than they were the first time.
