Honda CBF 125 - Gear Selector Help?
Discussion
Hi all,
This is my first post on the forums although I do tend to lurk a lot.
Today I took my 125 out for a spin to gregs on my dinner, throwing down with rain and without paying much attention I did the idiotic thing of locking up the front breaks when the car in front of me decided he missed his turning and off I go. (completely my fault and I know, am an idiot)
I'm totally fine but the gear selector and the thing it links to is snapped off and totally loose and I have no idea where to start in terms of prices and fitting other than that the bike is fine other than some minor scratches to the pegs and plastic.
Hoping any of you kind piston heads could point me into the right direction.

I'm currently sitting here looking at a CBF125 outside the window. I can go and take pics if you'd explain what you'd like pictures of
I'll do that! (soon as I can get out of work) its basically what the person above me posted and linked to another selector.
At the moment the gear lever itself 100% needs replacing unsure the condition of the thing it is connected to. I tried to change gear to neutral with my hand but to no avail ( I think its in first so need to fiddle with my hand to try and select the correct gear )

Below is the picture of the gear selector and the thing that it connects to. I am unsure of what exactly is broken and what isn't as i can't remember how it looked before. If you could maybe post a picture of your bike in the same angle we could at least compare to see exactly how these two pieces line up.
I've contacted a garage that will go out to my place of work and have a look for me going to give him a ring tomorrow and see if he will pop round just hoping to get a bit of information about it before he does as I don't want him telling me they is a trillion things wrong when it could be a simple easy fix that I could do myself.

On a side note I've been looking at that link v8forweekends posted of a parts list. Although it was the wrong model bike I found the correct one and its actually really interesting and the prices seem really cheap! The bits of plastic dotted around the bike have a few scratches that i would have otherwise ignored but if parts are as cheap as that I'll be replacing those too!

Search ebay for cbf 125 gear lever. There'll be loads, you should get one for £20 or less. If I can find one for my CB400 which was never officially sold in the UK (and hence parts are very rare), you should have no issues finding one for one of the most popular 125's out there. Top tip: Honda don't make a different gear lever for every single different model of bike they make, the parts are normally shared over a few different models.
there you go. job done. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=cbf+125+gea... check it's for the correct year as sometimes they make small changes.
or, go to a honda dealer and prepare to pay £50-60 for the same part.
Undo the bolt holding the arm on the gearbox selector shaft, undo the bold holding the gear lever on, replace with new. Make sure to put the arm on the splined selector shaft at the same angle and the gear linkage rod to the same length, 10 minute job.
Don't bother getting a garage to have a look, if you can't manage to find a cheap replacement and fit the new one yourself, you need to learn some basic mechanical skills (i.e. how to undo a bolt, and how to do up a bolt) and how to search for stuff on the internet.

Thanks for all that and as you can see I am pretty new at this and yes I do know my way around a bolt but just a bit wary when you talk about the same angle and same length for the linkage rod.
How can this be achieved?
I also did have a look around google and could only ever really find just the gear selector and not the linkage rod so many thanks for the link.
