Came home tonight to find smoke coming from under the passenger wheel arch (battery area). By the time I had decided to ring 999, flames were licking over the bonnet. Subsequently by the time the fire brigade arrived the whole thing was alight, including my garden fence!!!

Weird thing is, the car hasn't been used for 4 days and now (all of a sudden) it goes up in flames.

Anyone had same experience or know of similar?

Definitely a jinxed car, had a new engine 8 weeks ago and now this....

I would think so, everything back to the dashboard is very toasted.

Bloody hell that is scary. It might be an idea to contact Seymourski on here. I know his caught fire on the drive, but cant remember the exact details. May be unrelated, but worth a chat. So sorry, hope you get it sorted. If a cause is found it would be very useful to post on here.

Battery and cats are around that area. Just came back from some work eh......

Luckily this doesn't seem common!

Glad you're OK.

Cheers,

Andy.

Sorry to hear about that. Very scary!

There was one spotted on the M11 in flames a few months ago - I've not heard anything more about it since, but others may have.
