I've got a new AllRoad BiTurbo – lucky me (I think).

Apart from the usual lifeless Audi steering it also has a couple of other features which annoy me greatly, mostly the radio which always comes on whenever the engine has been switched off. Always. Can't find anyway of switching it permanently off, other than selecting a different source and getting that instead, which is just as bad. Does anyone know of a way in which this stupid 'feature' can be rectified?

Press and hold the volume button down to switch the MMI off completely. You can mute music by press and release but not checked if it remembers that for next start. Other option is to adjust the startup volume for audio to zero.

That's what I'd do, yes.

I have an MY2014 Allroad 3.0tdi - but not the BiTurbo !

And also hated the radio thing

I have a solution which involves enabling the "Green Menu" and then one of the options therein is to turn the volume down to "0"

This works perfectly - but you need to have access to a VCDS to turn on the Green Menu - by using sequence detailed below. There are lots of folk around who do have VCDS and are willing to help - myself included if you are near Bracknell/Frimley area

It works very well and essentially mutes the MMI until you tell it otherwise.

Hope this helps

___________
Enable access to the green engineering menu in the MMI
[Select]
[5F - Information Electr.]
[Adaptation - 10]
Select Channel 6 and Read
change the value from 0 to 1 then Test then Save
Reboot the MMI (Press MENU, central MMI knob and top right softkey)
To get to the Hidden Menu, press and hold the CAR and MENU buttons for a few seconds. You may have to have a few attempts - if you don't press them at the exact same moment either CAR or MENU activates. You know if you have done it right because the red LEDs in the buttons do not illuminate.
WARNING!!!! BE CAREFUL!!! Do not mess with settings in the Hidden Menu unless you know what you are doing. On earlier MMI versions, people managed to activate the bootloader menu and fried their MMI. Use at your own risk. If in doubt, leave well alone!

Thanks chaps. How do I turn the start up volume down to zero? Sorry to sound dim but this MMI malarky is a bit of a step up from the orange digi-dash in the Quattro.

Doesn't this sum up all that us wrong with modern cars? They are way too complex.....

How hard is it for there to be an "off" switch. Reminds me of Hitchhikers Guide.....

Ours is a pre-facelift MMI 3G but I seem to recall when you're playing an audio source, you select the soft button for 'settings' and it's hidden away somewhere. Not near the car to check but if I can be less vague later I will be!
