To Joolz at Kits and Classics and Richard Thorpe at RT Racing for a spectacular job of getting my car ready for the next 20 years.

Joolz has refettled the engine, suspension, clutch, massive brake upgrade and other bits to numerous to mention. Many weeks of work all done most diligently and to his usual high standards. The car then went to Richard at RT Racing for a full body off chassis refurb which is a credit to him and his chaps. It now looks and drives like a new car, actually better than a new one as all the factory installed gremlins have been banished.

Whatever your TVR needs these are two names to remember for a quality job.

Thanks chaps from a fat and happy customer.

Richard sent it down to the powder coaters with a yellow snooker ball for colour match purposes. They did quite well!

More to follow.

If you don't mind me asking, how much is the chassis work costing?

I don't think it's any big secret but the base price at RT is 5.5k but allow more than that. There's always stuff going to crop up like heatsheilds, pipes, things that break on the way out, bushes, fluids etc. Better to go in with your eyes open, the bill can get eye watering.

Car looks superb and I`m looking at similar work on my Cerb. Did Jools check over your engine and advise what work was required?...I take it your engine was `refreshed` and not rebuilt ?
Also regarding the chassis work, did RT have to do any welding on the main spine of the chassis ? I take it as a given the outriggers were replaced.
I have companies in mind who I`m considering to do the work but its good to have the opinion from people such as yourself who have had the work done already.

I sent Joolz a list of what I knew needed or wanted doing and then he inspected it and added a few bits and bobs like the ARB mods, wishbone mods, splitter and rack repairs. He then advised me on the chassis which confirmed my thoughts on it. It spent several weeks with him but a fair bit of that was him waiting on BG to deliver the damn rear calipers back and me getting machining done on the high spec kit to make it fit (bells). The engine is pretty much mint, 44k and very well looked after. It just had a 12k service and oil return spring plus a bit of setting up. Pulls like a train and 70PSI running oil pressure so not much to do there. It then got another oil change at RT as I forgot to tell him the oil had only done 30 miles and that was on a trailer from Joolz.

The chassis was only really crappy on the outriggers and the rails that get cooked by the manifolds but I saw no point in taking the body off and not doing the job right. I didn't go into too much detail with Richard about what needed doing. I Just left it to his judgement as he has equipment for checking wall thickness and a good eye for the job.

Belongs to my business partner who is a 911 wuss who's to chicken to drive it in the rain so he has to have a second car. You know the sort, porsche cufflinks as opposed to TVR beer stains.
