Am taking the DB9 to France in early September, and whould have used the Eurotunnel as in the past but I want to avoid M20/Operation Stack and Calais, so am looking at a Portsmouth-Le Havre Ferry instead (Brittany Ferries).

Anybody got any advice so as to avoid ramps on the ship and being parked on an open deck ?

Thanks.. on second thought i think i would rather have an hour or so delay on the tunnel than be stuck on a boat for 5 hours !

Trust me, you will have no problems at all. The loaders are very used to loading sports cars as said earlier, Le Mans each year tests them.

Agreed, I've taken my TVR on the Portsmouth Caen ferry loads of time and I assure you it's lower than a DB9. Plus the car floor is not open, is it?

And they love to see all the cars taking endless pics as they go about loading/unloading

Took the tunnel today, all this panic is a load of hot air. Only 20 mins late and ignored operation stack by taking m2 to Dover which was totally clear. The key is ignoring what those tits at the Highways agency say.

Oh and blipping the throttle through the train did NOT happen...

Tunnel today was horrendous. Hour queue to get off the M2, then more queues all through the tunnel slip road and booths, terminal etc.

I use Brittany Ferries quite a lot - when checking in just explain you have little ground clearance, can't go up the ramps and ask to be put on bottom deck.
Never had a problem smile
