I'm taking the Monaro to France in a few weeks and wondered if there is anything in addition to the usual I need to watch out for?

Spare bulbs I can probably find, but do you have any ground clearance issues getting on the ferry? And do the headlight deflectors work or is it a case of fiddling with the adjustment screws when on the ferry?

Thanks in advance smile

Anarchic French tts lighting tyres on public roads and generally making a nuisance of themselves, happy in the knowledge that the French authorities (bigger tts) will do nothing to stop them.

Good Luck with the ferries and traffic jams etc!

Vive la revolution?

I'd 2nd the breakdown cover...best £70 I ever spent prior to a recent trip on the continent...car currently being repatriated after the PAS pump gave up on a well known public toll road

We're going Dover to Calais.

I'm going to book the best breakdown possible, as I imagine a local French garage wont have an assortment of Monaro parts on the shelves. A mate got stung last year not having cover as he broke down on the toll road and had a €300 bill to get him off, and then another recovery bill to somewhere the car could be fixed.

Quite looking forward to how many people I can make jump when I start the engine on the ferry hehe

i went to lemans last month. 3 up with all camping. no clearance issues for me.

took all the appropriate gear just in case ,reflective jackets , breathalysers etc put the jacket over the back of the seat, show the frenchies your carrying, all paperwork, I also changed my front plate to full sized too, just in case

I got rac top cover which was 40 quid for the week.

I took beam benders but never fitted them, buy it all before form cheapest place you can find.the ferrys carry but are pricey

This cost me about £55 for a week one year and I am an RAC member. I then asked by insurance broker about it and they covered me for a whole year for about £70 which I think is better value for European breakdown cover if you are doing more than one trip, so might be worth a try.

Technically I think you're still meant to carry them but there's now no fine if you're caught without them so make your own mind up. Only £5 from Halfrauds anyway.

You need to have a high vis jacket for each occupant, and they need to be inside the car, tucked in the boot under your luggage isn't acceptable.

When we go to Le Mans each year there's two of us in the car, so I wedge a high vis jacket in each corner of the parcel shelf so it's nice and obvious for le flic that I've got 2 in there.

Clearance was fine getting on the chunnel (I'm super low at the front) but I couldn't tell you about the ferry, never had a problem at standard ride height though in the past thumbup
