Hi

My 997TT makes a squeal on start-up - sounds like a fan-belt slipping. It only happens in the very wet and after a few minutes of warming the engine it stops.

Took it to OPC, but of course they can't replicate it, they did say they have tightened the belts up..(cost £90!).

Soo I need your perceived wisdom on what it could be. Are there lots of belts in there? Is there a particular one I should just get replaced?

Cheers

Yep, my 996 turbo did it even with new belts. Obviously getting a garage is only one option - I sold mine. wink

Hi MNS, they cannot retension the belts as it has a automatic tensioner.I think there was a mod to reduce amount of water
getting onto the belt, will try and find info.

IMI A - Thanks car is normally kept in the garage / undercover at work. However I was late to the office the other day and all the undercover spaces had gone grrr!

cd1957 - I would be very grateful if you could point me in the direction of the mod.

Went to the pub for Sunday lunch yesterday and when I drove away from the outside carpark belts made a sequel - felt a right t't. Surely they don't all do this.....

Thanks

Mine does this after i have washed the car and belt gets wet, only last for about 5 seconds so don't bother me to much.
