Ok, so Ill start by saying I dont know anything about this topic, so dont go throwing a load of jargon at me.

Put simply:

Currently using Sage 50, outgrown it and its struggling with our amount of transactions. Sage are suggesting we get Sage 200...

Everybody in my circles are slating Sage 200, however it sounds completely overkill for what we need and its also massively expensive in comparison to what we have.

I need something which has the same features/functionality as Sage 50 - but is able to handle significantly more transactions. We currently use Sage in conjunction with Tradebox and ChannelAdvisor.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks.

Sage200 user here. I think you'll find that most people tend to slate whatever package they use. One of our biggest issues with Sage200 was that it was never set up correctly in the first place. Most support providers just tend to set the system up in a fairly standard way and then let you get on with it rather than set the system up in a way that best matches your needs. The big problem with that is that there are many things in Sage200 that once you're set up and have history with then you're kind of stuck with them.

While Sage200 does have some weak areas(reporting is woeful) it does do a good job for what we require. Price wise its pretty easy to get significant discounts on sage and especially the add on modules.

How many transactions are you doing?

Forget it and go with an online setup. No maintenance, upgrades, backups, restores etc.

Look at Xero, Freeagent etc.
