Looking at 986 Boxster with replacement engine
Discussion
Helping a friend with a search for a 986 and came across a really nice car on c.60k miles, seller was quite honest that he was aware that car had a replacement engine under Porsche warranty at 30k miles in 2008, but nothing more than a invoice to show it so no real understanding of why it was replaced. My friend is a bit put off but I think it's a positive. Not sure if it has any effect on what IMS would have been replaced with new engine etc?
Any thing I should be considering or alternative views? I've not come across one with a new engine before although I'm sure there are plenty

I think is a plus it's had the engine replaced. Given the miles done since replacement it's clearly working. If it was me I would get an independent to scope for bore scoring, costs a couple of hundred and if it comes back good go for it. Just need to keep a slush fund back in case the worst happenes as I'm assuming it was under a OPC warranty rather than rebuilt and strengthened at Hartech or other similar good companies.
Out the url up.

Definitely an OPC, we checked this morning with Colchester who confirmed replacement engine and part number - I love that an entire engine has a part number! All they said was fitted new engine due to starting problems, they couldn't provide us any further info or paperwork though.
I just wondered what was included with a 'new engine'
