Hi all,

Fitting a simple GPS tracker to my S2 and need a permanent 12v feed to keep it charged, preferably in the cabin, but obviously must be fused. Any suggestions? Interior light? Electric windows? Something at the fusebox?

You can take a live feed from the sources you suggest, plus the ignition switch, and fit a simple in-line fuse.

if you do not have a wiring diagram I suggest you look at the following post and perhaps copy one off. There are a number of points you could take off a permanent live, it rather depends where you want to fit your tracker. Probably behind the dash above and to the right of the steering column gives most room, if so you would want to pick up on a permanent live on that side of the car. And, as mentioned above, fit a separate in line fuse close to the tracker, preferably attached to it, so you know exactly where it is and do not confuse it with an other circuit. The tracker may well come with a separate fuse anyway?

A lot of radios ( youngsters call them head units I believe?) have a permament live as well as an ignition switched live.

Be a bit careful where you choose to locate the tracker as if it's too buried under the dash (or under anything for that matter) you may find you get an intermittent signal at best and no signal at worst. If you can, do a test in the spot you've got in mind before going to too much trouble with the instalation.

Cheers guys, I wasn't going to bury it, just a bit of fun as it's a £30 ebay job. Live to the stereo makes the most sense I think.
