I'm thinking of getting another tattoo, a full sleeve and I'm starting to plan what I want and am looking for inspiration and reference material.

It seems in my head I have this very definite style of art, but I'm having trouble putting a name to it or googling for much of it. Basically, it's the old biker/hot rod style stuff...flames, dice, playing cards, pin up girls (often in silhouette), 8-balls etc. There are bits of it here and there on www.choppersinc.com and verious hot rod sites. Someone at work says it's all based on the art of Vince Ray, but Google seems to turn up mostly comic/magazine covers and isn't really what I'm looking for.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

* I know a lot of people on here don't like tattoos. I do, I am aware of what I'm doing and am happy with it. So please no "council estate scum", "you'll regret it when you're old", "branding yourself retarded" comments please.

Have you tried just popping into a couple of places and seeing what they can do! I know there use to be a Tattoo show at Monkton Stadium in Jarrow once a year, but I think it is in April.

The guy in Jarrow is quite good, (Chris Wright I think)he did a cover up on one of my mates and also a new desgin at the time and it was great.

Forget Ozzy on Byker Bridge as he did one of mine, and I had to get it redone at the show at Monkton again in 2001, by a guy from Whitley Bay.

Thanks guys.

I will discuss and go over it all with a tattoo artist first, but I'd like to be able to go in armed with a batch of designs and drawings to help get acros what I'm talking about and really show what I'm after.

Off to Google for some Von Dutch now.

Taaschen have just published a book (which I own) covering this very subject. Unfortunately I can't remember the title, or the author, or ISBN.
