Diablo 3. Ticks the adventure box very nicely.
Knew I'd forgot something huge... Borderlands 2!
Although the split screen coop may only be on the PS4/XB1.
Borderlands looks different! Interesting different. Diablo doesn't quite look our kettle of fish.vKnew I'd forgot something huge... Borderlands 2!

Googlefu has suggested Killzone 3 and Resistance Fall of Man/Resistance 3 might be worth a shout?

I think it (Borderlands) is split screen-able actually - I think next gen introduced 4 player split screen, which looks mental.Googlefu has suggested Killzone 3 and Resistance Fall of Man/Resistance 3 might be worth a shout?

You didn't state which platform you have but as mentioned above Minecraft works well split screen on the PS4. My almost 4yr old and 12yr old kids were playing it together yesterday for about 2 hours non-stop.
Borderlands The Handsome Collection would be well worth a punt if Minecraft and Lego are a bit simplistic for you. It includes all the DLC every made for Borderlands I believe. I'd pick it up myself if I had more gaming time on my hands as it's a classic.

Portal 2 has an amazing co-op that really gets you thinking. It really is impossible to do without cooperation.
Just about to post this exact recommendation. The 2 player section is actually completely different to the main story, which is also good fun to play with a mate actually.Little Big Planet 1,2 and 3. All brilliant platformers to play with the OH, my missus loves them and I find them strangely therapeutic to play too. Think of them as Mario\Sonic turned up to 11.
I love a bit of couch 2 player action, unfortunately the rush to get everyone online seems to have pretty much killed off this brilliant pastime. Why play with your real friends when you can play with your virtual ones?
Anyway this website is excellent for finding out which games offer local 2 player action (oo-eer). Just put in your game system and filter for couch co-op or split screen.
