Right, I'm hacked off once again. For the fourth time in a year a car down my street has had it's side window broken and stuff nicked from inside. Same MO every time and I'm sure it's the same scrote(s).

Police have done nowt apart from dole out crime numbers so I want to catch the little barstard.

The layout of the street is such that one, or maybe two cameras can catch everyone who enters or leaves.

As they usually work when it's dark I was wondering what the state of play is with night vision cameras?

While I would like good clear video, it only needs to be good enough to get an ID so I can get on my pushbike and find the little shits. I have a strong suspicion they regularly pass down my street at the same time of day due to timings etc.

I would like to put it to the other residents to buy into it and secure the street, but I don't want to suggest a pile of poo!

The old sneaky "air rifle through the curtains" trick would be a timely distraction for them.

That's what I was hoping to find out

Thanks for the link. If the neighbours don't mind a buy in, budget is less of a consideration than performance. Linked to a 24 hour rolling HDD type recorder, I think we could find out who it is.

Anyone here using night vision cams?

I will be soon.

Setting up a home CCTV system in the next few weeks. Old PC, 4 cam PCI input card and probably 3 cameras of this type.

What sad times are these, where, but for the want of a good birching, young scrotes are able to pilfer at will...

You need to hook your system up to one of these automated sentry systems (I think they have them in Maplins)

I have a cunning plan involving a pillow case, a car boot, some rope, a spot of hog tying, some well known dogging woods and a digital camera if I catch the little ers
