hi all
sorry if this stuff's been asked before but im in the market for a manual car and would like some advice on the following pls ;
what are the must have options
are the cars colour / miles sensitive
what is considered a fair price for average mile car , say around 30k miles

oh and lastly I'm torn between Cayman R and 987 Boxster Spyder. Anyone have experience with both and what is preferred !?

thanks very much
Tony

You need to decide wether you want a coupe or convertible!
Both cars I would say top price for low mileage well specd car £45-46k and anything over 30k miles about £37k
You want pse, chrono and short shift everything else is a bonus, and both must have Spyder wheels!

No but choose the colour you like and don't worry about resale I think spec, condition and mileage are more important than the colour

It's a marmite colour really.

I think less people like it, but those that do, REALLY like it.

I thought I wanted Peridot, but ultimately I just couldn't do it.......

Worth having a look through here -

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Great cars, I love mine.

Spec wise.. I looked for -
Manual
Buckets
PSE
Sports Chrono
Climate
Warranty
Xenons
Spyder wheels
under 15,000 miles.
And no rear wiper

I wanted peridot green, but ended up with a White one (as I hear they are the fastest..)

I hear the top 3 are-

Buckets
Spyder wheels
PSE

Hope this helps..

Dan

I flatly refused to consider any car without PCM.......others aren't fussed about it, I couldn't buy a car without it.

I wasn't fussed about buckets or spyder wheels, now wouldn't buy one without them.

I own both, great cars. (try and look at EVO April, both are in that one for a quick review)
I went for the launch colour in both and people love them.

nice older school feel vs the 981 but a new car so not old school hassle. options are many but I only buy Porsches with extended leather but that's hard to find, main options to have for resale are:
Manual
PSE
buckets
Spyder wheels

Spyders the more get it out at the weekends car, but with this summers showers, it not been that often, the R is just a great car to drive all year round.

PCCB are worth it on the cars as imo the cars under braked with the 4 pots, the 6 pots and 350mm disks offer outstanding braking performance.
If you want any info or want to come and see both PM me. My R will also be for sale in NOV and has full spec inc Leather, PCM, BOSE SS , BT, AUX over the main must have items items.

Quite like the Spyder but may be tempted by a PDK at some stage. How much hassle is the roof?

Im assuming handling is sublime on both on the road...

The roof's not hassle and is water tight.

the issue is ,it's noisy and not wind tight.

Lower C of G and about 80Kg lighter than my R, also my Spyder has hi flow manafolds, RSS arms, moboball toe links, engine mounts and CUP 2's and weights 1250kg plus has the PCCB's.
it's a mega drive esp at night in the summer roof off.

LOve it. So at what speed does the roof become to noisy would you say ?
