4.0 V8 Engine.

Was there different revisions of V8 engines fitted to the Chim's I onky ask as I seen an engine bay shot on ebay and the rad tank bottle is in a differnt place to mine.

Serpentine (1 belt) & pre serpentine.

(But that doesn't necessarily account for different bits in different places!)

Pre-serp had the Swirl tank mounted on the engine, Serpentine models had the swirl tank mounted on the Chassis in front of the engine,

o.k mines Pre-serp then. any differences e.g power or reliablilty. Have no problems with my car was just curious

Serpentine is explianed in't bible along with a variety of engine bay shots with bits in different places. Serpentine refers to the later V8s that had a single continious fan belt that drove everything and not a variety of narrow V belts. Serp engines had improved oil pumps and other internal bits and pieces.

Getting back to topic there are close to two thousand different Rover V8 engines. Some only had a different filler cap but many are radically different and vary in bhp from about 80 to 350 and in cc from 3528 to 5300ish.
