I have a windows 2000 server, it has two network cards. One card is on the local network, one is on another network that eventually gets to the internet (via a proxy).

Now, it keeps looking down the wrong network card for the proxy server, i.e. the internal network.
So i need a way of telling it to look on the external card for a 10.1 address when neither of the cards has a 10.1 address.
Can it be done?

Yup....

route ADD 10.1.x.x MASK 255.255.0.0 192.168.1.1(gateway IP)

When you have it working how you want, make it permanent by using the -p flag

route -p ADD 10.1.x.x MASK 255.255.0.0 192.168.1.1
