Pre-war Triumph Dolomites

We were out on our 20s sidecar outfit today and at the pub stop there was a pre-war Triumph Dolomite. I honestly think it was one of the best looking cars I've ever seen!

Does anyone know the (rough!) cost of one and how rare they are? I see there's a DHC version on carandclassic for £45k but the coupe today was prettier, in my opinion.

The chap who owns the one I saw said they're not hugely rare, and that the body was 'Triumph's' but somehow I've completely missed them!

Anyone any experience or knowledge of them?

Made from 1937 to 1939.

Came with four and six cylinder OHV engines. 1800 and 2.0 litre respectively.

Approximately 6000 made (saloon and coupe)

Convertible much rarer with only around 200 made.

Do you know if there's any external differences between the 4 and the 6? I'll try and put a photo of the one I saw up tonight, just curious about it really!

I'm almost certain that the 4 and 6 have the same body style. Having said that there are several available body types including saloon, Royal saloon, continental saloon and foursome coupe.

Confusingly there is also a Dolomite Straight Eight which is a completely different car with a supercharged straight eight twin ohc engine. This was the car that Donald Healey was involved in and had similarities to the Alfa Romeo 8C. Only three were made.

I read about the 8C 'alike' a couple of months ago and lusted after it, which is why I was surprised when he said that this one was also a Dolomite, and that they "aren't that rare"!

Any ideas of the body type, and (roughly!) how much one would be? To be added to my list of 'one day purchases', maybe.

I noticed they're at the Kop hill climb; I'm riding in that this year so I'll seek them out and hopefully see some more
