Could anyone tell me costs to replace clutch on a 997?

I know a clutch kit from Design 911 is £354 inc VAT, but I have been quoted nearly £1000 in labour. I thought hours to do the job was about 5-6.

Bargain! The only part of maintaining the Evora that costs more than a Porsche is £3k todo the clutch.

think you will find tyres and brakes and putting petrol in on the Evora is all more .

But NOT sure why you brought up the over weight plastic pig.

As a comparison, but obviously a better car.

You are wrong on all the other points except rear tyres.

Ignore him. I think his parents had him specified with the wise-ass package. wink

Oh, and you've been on here for 10 years now Nick.

? wrong as you mean I am right ;-) on the S though you cannot buy a NON S evora now.

mpg is less
Tax is more
servicing is more over 2 years
pads will be more they are bigger if you say put in a Pagid 29 as an example.

You are still wrong smile

ps Evora weighs less than a 997 C2, and the comparable car is the Evora n/a which makes you more wrong smile

I'm not upset at all (didn't you spot the wink?). I thought up the wise-ass gag last night and was looking for an excuse to use it. I just needed someone with a certain authoring style to let me do that. Thanks for your help.

Well as a guide JZM quote a price (inc VAT) of £1,075 on their servicing menu (based on a 2007 997 C2S Manual).

So your quote seems high.

Thanks for your response. God knows what the others are on, how very odd.

Just ones of those days, probably my fault, I was just trying to say that for the type of car your price seemed comparatively reasonable. My neighbour is a Porsche Indy I have asked him how much he charges and will let you know when he gets back to me.

thumbup

One of the things I'm interested in, just how heavy is a 997 clutch? The biting point etc is fine, but it just feels quite heavy to depress. I drove my mk6 gti yesterday and nearly pushed the clutch pedal through the firewall!

It's the way you say it, not neccessarily the factual accuracy of what you say...

And the point that his facts are wrong!

eg. Evora S has a lower kerb weight than a 997 c2s

Given the OP has a Cayman S listed in his garage I assume we are talking about a 987 and not a 997?

I'd be interested to know how much people have been charged/quoted by Porsche for a new clutch on a Cayman and at what mileage they went if anyone cares to share.

I did check and he said 997 rather than Cayman S, but it's £931 (inc Vat) for a 987 CS using the JZM online pricelist).

Thats pretty good if correct, as its no more than the clutch replacement on an ecobox.

I may be less precious about standing starts if thats the case.
