hi all, not a very exciting post i'm afraid. Just wondering if you could replace a rusted tailpipe hanger? It runs perpendicular to the exhaust pipe right near the tailpipe. It seems to be welded to the exhaust pipe on one side. I don't know anything about welding, could you de-weld and then re-weld a new one one on. Just wanted to check you don't have to replace the whole exhaust.

Thanks

You can weld a new one. I just used a clamp and strap on a S/S system.

If the hanger is that bad it would be surprising if the system has much life left in it.

The car is a 62 plate with 35k on the clock, i'm not sure if this level of rust on the hanger is surprising or not and what could cause it to be so bad if its worse than it should be on a car thats only 2.5 years old? Good to know that welding another on is a possibility. I had hoped that most exhaust components are more resistant to rust whereas the hanger's i guess should be fairly cheap replaceable parts so not such a big deal if it rusts.

Thanks

Quality really depends on make, model, and of course the environment it is living in.

Even cheap ass french ste would probably survive a long time in the desert.....stick it on the coast of Scotland on the other hand and it wont.
