How thick?

.... are 280 brake discs supposed to be? :-)

Fronts are 12mm and rears are 13mm. Are they serviceable?

Hi Mate..The fronts are Ford Granada mk2 solid discs and the rears are Jaguar XJS/6 inboard solid discs.

Hi Toby, I recently upgraded my fronts to vented discs. Old discs are as new and are 12mm thick so yours sound fine. How's the bodywork coming along? have you received your new panels yet? Would be good for an update. Cheers. Keith

IIRC my old rear discs had 'Min. Th. 12mm' stamped into them. They were about 12.7mm once I'd skimmed them on the lathe but I fitted new ones as I'd had them lying around for years.

Thanks Guys. Vented discs means different calipers right? If so, just had all calipers refurbished so will stick with them. My discs are a bit rusty but should clean up with some driving hopefully. That'll be the day..

Thanks Keith, yes well overdue for an update. Been preoccupied with Maserati fly-by-wire electrical gremlins, thank the Lord for accelerator cables is all I can say!

My big box of bits has arrived, body is at repairer's, with new nose to be grafted on shortly. Need to send the diff off to be checked and have the pressure valve elbow replaced as I snapped it off when moving the diff (doh). Will update the original thread with some pics.

Hi mate...I have the standard 2 pot calipers on my 350i but have a spacer in the calipers so that i can have a vented disc, I think its about 10mm...The solid discs have a bell depth of 62mm and the larger has 72mm...Here is some more info...Cheers...Ziga
