I have just taken a phone call from a new owner of a 1989 S2 that he purchased in bits as a project, and is being rebuilt.

His PC is currently being repaired and he is without internet access. I agreed to post this on his behalf and act as the middle man rather than putting his phone number on a forum.

He is missing the window lifters and hand brake cable. Does anyone have, or know where he could get these from. He had already purchased a cable, but it is apparently not the right one.

If anyone local to him, near Maidestone, has an hour to spare, I am sure he would welcome a chat about his car. I can put you in touch.

Handbrake cable is a shortened Sierra item. I have a "new old stock" cable he can have for a tenner if he wants to have a go at modifying it or get it done somewhere. They are (or were not long ago) available from TVR specialists but expect to pay £50+

If the one he's bought is just too long sounds like he has a standard Sierra one or are the ends the wrong shape in which case could be for disc brakes?

Window lifters? the electric motors, mechanism or everything? not that I can help with that one either way.

Useful old thread on handbrake cables wink

"proper" way is to get a new end crimped on but I believe it has been done by cutting and re-joining with these?

Uncharacteristically slow response from the S massif there Jez, but apparently there are not many experts on handbrake cables and window lifters in the Maidstone area.

Another one here is not sure what you mean by window lifters. Can you be more specific? Are they manual or electric? Do you mean the channel that the bottom of the door window glass sits in, or the whole operating mechanism? Pretty scarce items I would think. Has your man tried the TVR breakers and TVR parts?
Maybe Greymrj's contact has stock?
Good luck, hope something turns up. ( No pun intended! )

PS. Has he contacted his local TVRCC Region for help?

Thanks for the info on the hand brake cable.

I think he needs the entire mechanism for the window lifters, and yes electric.

He contacted the TVR office, and they gave him my number as they know I had an S and also have my contact details as an RO for the East Midlands.

I did wonder about the geographical discrepancy.

His nearest regional meet ( South East London & Northwest Kent ) is:
1st Sunday lunchtime at the Woodman at Goathurst Common, Ide Hill, Sevenoaks, Kent, TN14 6BU
OR:
4th Monday evening at the Bullfinch, London Rd, Riverhead, Seven oaks, Kent, TN13 2DR

Contacts are Nick Smith or Richard Davis. I won't post their numbers on an open forum, but you can email : ro@tvrcc-selnwk.co.uk to find out.

Alternatively, Mid Kent meet 3rd Wednesday 7:30pm at the Park Gate Inn,
Hollingbourne, ME17 1TR
Contact Paul Vincent or Bill Oliver e: ro@tvrcc-mid-southkent.co.uk

I've got these details from Sprint Magazine.
Perhaps one of the members of those regions can be of help, but I think internet access would help him more.
