I am fed up with the seal between the extension reservoir and the main body leaking. I have changed the seals several times and after a year there is a pool of fluid in the tray underneath. Both are leaking again. The side reference is 64676310 and of course it is a .7" bore cylinder.

I can buy new reservoir extensions with seals and cap but it seems a waste of time. It would seem better just to abandon the extensions and put an alloy cap on the master cylinder. Tell me the fault in my (flawed) logic. This is of course the XKSS.

Why do you bother with extensions on the cylinder anyway?

It was tracked a lot in the day and they were there when I bought them, so I just continued with them. Now I don't track the car or really use it as I did (anno domini) so I guess I'll just delete them. The cylinder caps are about £7 each either in aluminium or plastic.

I used to have those cylinders on my race car with Jaguar callipers, I now use AP cylinders with remote reservoirs but either way fluid level changes were/are minimal and they never get anywhere near empty even when the pads were nearly shot.

You'll like this; I found the covers in France at £7 each from Oreca Racing. If you click on "purchase" they then tell you subject to a six week delay. I ordered from the UK at £4 each in stock but paid dear for delivery before the weekend but then hey-ho, I need the car. Covered the cylinders in plastic film with rubber bands to keep the moisture out in the meantime.

ETA:- and yes, they arrived this morning and the car is now usable, which means we can go out with friends on Sunday taking both cars. Thanks Burtonpower.
