AUDI A4 1.8T Quattro 2003 - Loss of power (1 second only)

Hi fellow Phers

I have Audi A4 1.8T quattro 2003 (190 bhp). Just recently there has been a sudden loss of power for just a second then all kicks back in. This has happened 3 times in 2 days.

It has happened in 2nd gear and 5th gear not sure if that makes any difference.

Does anyone have any idea what this issue may be?

If so what must i do to put this right and how many £££s are looking at.

I'm thinking its a failing coil pack.

I have also been reading about faults to do with the MAF.

Does anyone know what sort of prices i am looking at for MAF issues and Coil packs.

Coil packs were part of a workshop recall, so FOC. Not sure if this is still available.

No VAG service history is required, just ring your local dealer to check. They are around £35 per coil pack iirc.

Would you recommend having a diagnostic check?

I would try and get the latest revision of the coil packs checked at your local dealer first (if they are still free) and see if that fixes the problem.

If it's still there then get a diagnostic check done as you'll be changing stuff blind!
