I'm finding the pedal layout a bit of a challenge in the V12V to toe'n heel it. Anyone else have this, or a solution...
Or do I have to come to terms with the fact that I may be losing talent at the rate I am gaining dioptres and lb's.......eek

Practice (with the stereo off). Then practice more. Then give up and buy one of the cheating ones with auto-blipping auto downshifts.

Unless the pedal positions are different in my V8 to a V12 then you can do it easy enough.
(any excuse!) Take a look 1.20 in.

Hmm, just changed from sportshift 4.7 to the V12. It just seems the pedal is too far away and needs to be pressed deep which makes it clumsy.

Sport button on or off?

Off makes it near impossible. Add to that a relatively heavy clutch and very responsive CCM's.

I think you just need to readjust to the feel of all the controls and keep practising. Worth the effort because very rewarding when you pull it off. As an 18 year old I used to practice it in my Mum's Bedford camper van. Took a while to master but got there in the end!

Absolutely, that's why I thought to ask you guys. I was considering pedal mods but it maybe I just need a bit more talent.
Cheers Nick, I'm also glad I'm not the only one!

Lets be honest you only need to be able to do this if you are going seriously quick on a race track. If its for aural pleasure simply go for Double De-Clutch

+1

I did install a revised clutch pedal (longer/wider). It helped enormously with car launch from a stop (no stalling or hobby horsing), but it didn't do much of anything to make heel & toe any easier.

It would be swell if the car had auto blip on downshift like the new Corvette manual trans. Makes you feel like a hero.

No no no. If you don't want the satisfaction that comes from getting it right without electronic help, why not go all the way and buy a dual clutch car?

I happily use H&T in my V12V, whether or not in sport, but it would be easier if the accelerator was a bit closer to the brake.

BTW, the Corvette is far from the only car to have auto blip. The first I knew of was the 370Z, I know Porsche and BMW M now do it, no doubt there are others.

Yup, forgot about the 370Z. If I have to work real hard to heel/toe, then auto blip works for me. I like grabbing the stick, but would like to have better downshifts, so dual clutch is a no go for me.

I think the main thing that makes it a little more difficult to pull off or get used to is the Vantage seems to have a very slow throttle response

Agree. I've got an Ariel Atom and i can heal and toe that every time perfectly. However, my V12 seems to have a dead spot at the top of the pedal, plus some strange positioning, which makes it......less easy. In fact, in anything other than my sparco's that I wear in the atom, it's pretty much impossible.

Chris.

I tried and failed most of the time to achieve a satisfactory way of doing this on my V12V. On my new Alfa 4c it does it for me and it sounds good too.

Ah. I don't feel so cretinous now!
I might look at trying a wider throttle pedal.
