Clearing my CD Shelf - what to do
Discussion
Hmm, since I'm sitting with a shelfing system which is overloaded with CD's and DVD's I've decided to take the ones I never listen to off to make space for my new aquisitions (about 3 a month at this rate). Problem is what do I with the old ones?
I've now got 31 albums which are so far away from my musical tastes now-a-days its not funny and I'm almost embarrased to say I own some of them. I don't see the point in keeping them anymore as I won't ever listen to the CD again, nor will any of my friends/family so figure I might as well sell them, but where?
I don't do ebay for this sort of stuff as it attracts all the wrong people (it's ok for specialist stuff, but certiainly not the more popular items)
Any ideas? It's all old music so I'm not really looking for more that £2 each, maybe at most 3, a CD plus what ever it costs to post it somewhere, so ebay seems a bit pointless/overkill in that respect as well.
the list to give you an idea of the stuff I want shot of:
Ash - Intergalatic Sonic 7's
Ashanti - Ashanti
Dance Hits 2000
Europhia - Chilled (2CD)
Europhia - Pure (2CD)
Europhia - Transcendal (2CD)
Madness - The Business (3CD)
Manic Street Preachers - Forever Delayed (2CD)
Moby - 18
Moby - Play
Missy Elliot - Under Construction
MisTeeq - Lickin' on both sides
Ms Dynamite - A little Deeper (Explicit version)
Now Dance 2000 (2CD)
The Polyphonic Spree - The beginning stages of (CD & DVD)
StereoPhonics - Just enough education to perform
Stereophonics - Word Gets Around
Very Best of Pure Hip Hop (2CD)
Very Best of R&B (Summer collection) (2CD)
Very Best of R&B 2003 (2CD)

Never throw away anything you once liked. You will like it again as it will remind you of your past, and trust me, you won't be able to find it when that time comes.
I've got a load of stuff I don't listen to, I buy about 1 new CD every week and my collection is pushing 200. I know people with nearly 1000 and no, they don't listen to them all and could go a year or two without putting some of them on, but that's not the point - at some point, the urge to listen again will strike you!

What's wrong with ebay? I've sold a fair few old CDs on ebay, mainly stuff released mid to late 90s.
Damn you all
! There was me thinking I might make a little cash to buy some new albums and now I'm thinking "best put them in the loft then"

Don't make my mistake and get rid of them!
Threw a load out a few years ago and have amazed myself how many times since I have wanted to listen to one or two tracks off them occasionally.
My advice is to rip them to mp3's (or whichever format you prefer) and store them on a spare hard drive. Then you can either throw the physical CD's themselves or store them in the loft or wherever.

Sure there's loads of bad stories but it's not like anybody shouts from the roof tops when they have a successful sale ... I've had 2 people fail to pay but sold it on anyway and had fee recredited, from 30 or more sales at a rough guess.
Take them to yout local second hand record store but you won't get much for them as a lot.
