Unfortunately I do not wear my 07 planet ocean enough and so I have to part with it to gain funds for a kitchen renovation. I have had a look around here and found a place called blowers jewellers. They were very helpful and provided me with a quote for approx 1800 for the chronometer. Whilst I appreciated the effort they made in looking at my watch and giving me an estimate I was a little dissapointment it was worth this little, especially with it being boxed and with papers.

Does anyone know any other jewelers that may be interested in my timepiece. At the price e I have been given so far it almost justifies keeping the watch and putting a few extra shifts in to pay for the kitchen instead.

For an 07 watch I would bite their hands off. There was one on TZ SC , a little newer then yours and it went for £1750 not to long ago

Don't know if it's the really poor photo, but that does not look genuine

I reckon it's just a bad photo - It looks genuine to me! Dealers on Chrono24 have the MK1 PO Chrono for sale between £2K-2.6K, albeit mainly the black/white variant, rather than full orange. As such, £1800 is pretty good! Remember, they're a business ... They need to make a profit of some description smile

Alternatively, you could always contact Watches of Switzerland or WatchFinder for some comparable quotes. That said, selling private will always provide you with the best return. Pistonheads has a classifieds section for watches, which is free to advertise if you've been a member for long enough. There's also Chrono24.com and eBay, the latter of which is something I'd avoid. However many members and bought and sold through eBay without issues.

Serious question.

Where are they going for £1750?

The watchfinder site has a few and the cheapest i can see is £3150 and they go up from there.

Are people selling them privately for less than £2000.

It's a great watch i think

I've never seen a chrono PO go for £1750.... I'd say a private sale would be around £2500..... I sold a non chrono for £2kyes

Interesting topic as I have the same watch (in black and white) and gave some thought to selling it last year, Watchfinder offered me £1800 ish and a local jeweller slightly more (against a Sub), the local jeweller advised me to sell it privately and come back and see them about the Rolex. He advised they would put it in the window at £3,200, and for me to take 10% off that figure for a quick private sale.

I can't find any for that cheap either in the UK, some abroad but of course that ups the risk.
Checking Chrono24 the cheapest UK watch is £2,950 (same model as the OP). Checking watchfinder et-al they are around £3,100 - £3,500. Others too in retail seem to hover around the £3k mark.

These grab the £1800 posts seem a little hasty?

As mentioned in my previous post, I'd obtain a quote from a few places to see what a reasonable valuation is. It's always going to be a lot less than a private or trade sale, as the company needs to return a profit. I feel the orange/orange model is seen as more of a risk, as it's not a subdued colour scheme, hence commands a lower premium. The bezels are interchangeable, but Omega charge a ridiculous amount for a bezel, in comparison to 5-6 years ago.

Buying on the continent is a little more risky, but many members have done it! The Pound/Euro exchange favours us at the moment, and as such, watches sold on the continent are remarkably cheaper than via UK dealers. I've bought overseas with no issues. So a black/black MK1 Chrono from a European dealer (Not China, Russia etc!)

http://www.chrono24.co.uk/omega/seamaster-planet-o... - £2061
http://www.chrono24.co.uk/omega/planet-ocean-chron... - £2284

If you have the time and inclination, as said, I'd sell privately! Try advertising it at £2400 - See how you get on and lower the price if necessary. smile TZ-UK is a bit odd in pricing sometimes, in that watches do go for less than you'd expect. Although at least through TZ-UK, you don't have to deal with the muppets you get on eBay!

I'd sell on the Pistonheads.com classifieds! At a push, Gumtree ...

Absolutely - I have a PO Ceramic which I bought new, I like the orange a lot but my concern was that it will date, hence the choice of the grey-ish Ceramic. Doesn't mean I wouldn't add an orange one at the right price, but I might not be looking at it as a keeper, which I do with the one I have.

I have the later model 46mm orange on orange non-chrono with glass rear that I want to shift on to fund a GMT Master II BLNR. Box and papers present. Less than 2 years old. It's well worn though as it's been my beater. I wouldn't sell it for £1800 though. I'd be looking for 25% more than that.

If the watch came with a display back (So not retrofitted by yourself!), then you have a MKII Planet Ocean wink OP's is a MKI Chrono. The MKII also has a different movement, higher RRP ...

Exactly the same! At 23 years old, I loved the orange/orange vibrancy! However I questioned just how long I could live with the colour scheme. I came over all sensible, bought the black/white variant and 6 years on, I'm glad I did! Black/white is timeless. That's just my opinion though ... The orange/orange is stunning, but just not for me long term (My PO is a keeper).

Indeed it is the MkII with the 8500 coaxial movement. Which is why £2250 for a private sale would be a steal, even though the bracelet needs a polish.
