Yet another puzzler:

In doing the layout prior to drilling my front bulkhead, I've begun to suspect that the brake reservoir and washer fluid reservoir won't fit properly when located according to the attached drawing. Is that the most current set of specs or have they also changed over the years? I suspect the latter, as the drawing calls out M6 rivnuts and I received screws and nylocs instead, so that's changed at least.

When positioning the washer fluid reservoir low enough for its top, outboard corner to clear the front clip, it must be moved inboard ~15mm and down about the same. Everything else, naturally, must follow suit toward the centerline of the car - holes for the brake reservoir bracket, wiring, and washer fluid tubing.

Is this a case of "just make it fit" or has anyone received a more current set of measurements that'll simplify matters somewhat?

Thanks!

Ken

There tends to look plenty of space on the front bulkhead but it soon gets rather crowded.

This is mine. It is not Factory standard but it may help position things.

When I built my car there were no specs, you made it up as you went along (and made many visits to the factory armed with a camera!)

Andy told me that the sketch was taken from the factory template and normally works with no problems. He sent along the attached photo to illustrate.

To my eye, it looks as though the washer reservoir is sitting low and outboard, just barely clear of the frame and the clutch reservoir cap. I don't see how that position can be achieved using the hole position for its mounting plate shown in the sketch. Is it possible that the one hole shown (at 240mm right of the c/l and 30mm up from the rivet line) is the upper hole? If so, the lower hole will be on the rivet line, into a frame member, and not bolt-able (could use a rivet, though).

Since only the washer reservoir position seems to be in question, I'm planning to drill all the other holes, mount the brake reservoir, and then just make the washer reservoir fit. Does that sound like a reasonable course of action?

Sounds reasonable if a visual positioning looks OK. LHD vehicle in the pic...

I put my washer reservoir in the side pod, makes more space in the front an easier to fill up (not that ever have to fill it - it only ever gets used at MOTs)
