V8 S Heater Hoses

Started to strip off heater hoses on the V8s to replace with silicon ones , noticed the supply and return have a "balance" pipe for want of a better word. This takes the form of a tee piece on the pipes , is this normal or just the old owner making do to join the pipework he had ?

More of an 'H' piece maybe?



Normal. I made a new 'H' piece from 15mm copper pipe fititngs.

Yes thats it, what is the purpose of it though ?

I think, it allows water to flow around the system when the heater valve is closed.

Thanks , for the help . Fitted ACT silicon hoses bit of a nightmare,like wallpapering house through the letterbox !. Decided to do a bit of dismantling, made it so much easier, got carried away and painted fuel rail,the upshot of that was i nipped an injector seal, when reassembling. Still one out of eights not bad . Ordered a pair have to wait till tuesday now !
