Hey,
Thought I would start a project thread about my car to share with you the updates along the way to improving it.
I remember the day I had seen it advertise and almost immediately knew It going to be mine, the journey over to view the car was an exciting one I couldn't wait to see it, but even more exciting was the drive back home once I had bought it.

So mainly I have just been enjoying the car on these lovely summer days we have been having, until the other week after a spirited drive something went wrong...............upon hearing a terrible rattling sound coming from the engine bay, as you do I obviously feared the worst.
After a closer inspection in the man cave, I found the culprit and turned out to be a relatively minor problem.

After I removed it

I wasn't sure whether to weld it up and stick it back on or not. So I turned to the WSCC for help, and within a short time I had found my solution.
Somebody suggested McGill Motorsport, but then I decided on this chap on ebay
Rose Jointed Turnbuckle
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/oilphiluk/m.html?_nkw=&a...

After receiving said item I went to the garage to fit it, only to find out through nobodies fault but my own because I hadn't bother to measure up, evidently it was way to big
To make things easier I removed the nose to get a better look and better access.

After this I had to cut the turnbuckle to length and fit it.

Birds Eye View

I am little concerned about the angle of the turnbuckle, so I may go back and have another look to see if I can make a spacer and buy a longer bolt for it. I am open to suggestion about what to do? Or whether in fact it is ok how it is.
Afterwards I had to take her out for a quick spin as I hadn't driven it for 2 weeks

140 bhp is hopeful on many a crossflow. 1300 cc pistons gives 1690cc. 85mm bore will give 1699cc. Standard 1300 hepolite pistons still crack on the ringlands at high revs. Will go very well but expect 125 to 130 bhp. Looks a nice car, very similar to my yellow one. Been looking for my 3rd Westie, as have permission, just got to fund it.
As for the bracket, as everyone said, just space it off the water pump forward a bit or can it fit on the back of the alternator better than the front ?
