I was hungover and very tired when I picked the car up yesterday, also got stuck in gridlocked traffic on the M25 so I didn't fully get to appreciate the car. Also it had been a while since I had driven a manual, its amazing how quickly you become de skilled.

Took her out this morning and had a nice drive.

My thoughts are it feels like a big car coming from the F430, I have to remember the engine is now in front of me which is adding to that feeling. It does feel faster than the Ferrari which I think is all of the torque. Feels very very quick.

From watching the vids online I though the car would be noisy, on some of the reviews (car and driver and smoking tyre being 2 of my faves) the car sounded more like a race car.

I think I expected it to feel more of a track special than it does, don't get me wrong its superbly damped and firm but not crashy. I think some additional details would really add to the affect.

The car needs more carbon! wing mirrors and the bits in the lights will need to be added.

As well as carbon going to add the following to make it feel more race inspired and to my taste.

Powdercoated grey wheels, I like the S wheels and the V8V speedlines but might make the car look like V8 with bits on.
Grey exhaust tips as V12V S
Capristo secondary cat delete
Michelin Pilot Supersports

Another area I think the car could be improved is the gear knob, its needs to be lower I think. A nice carbon one would look great.

Build quality is pleasantly surprising. Love the carbon seats.

The negatives are the gear knob, crappy knobs for hifi and AC, also not enough exhaust noise and tyres I don't like. I had CORSAs on a Gallardo and liked them but I don't think they suit the Aston.

Overall I think with a few minor personalised bits it will be an epic car.

I think a love affair is starting….

some pics.

nice amount of carbon in my garage!

very nice congrats

when I specced my V12VR, I went for a variation on the gear knob that is used in the V8 manuals (and the V12 zagato) for the reasons you suggest

plenty of people love the v12 gear knob so you may even find someone who is interested in a swap

I have the carpets secondary cat delete - the difference is outrageous (in a good way)

Thanks CB,

Not a mark or stonechip on the car, it's like new. I've gone over the car completely.

It does have protection all over bumper and CF splitter so this will have helped.

Thats good. I have no paint protect and the car has got a couple of chips on it even though it has low miles.

Bravo - glad you like it!

Don't get too carried away with the gear stick just yet (sorry v8vpete!!) It took me a while to get comfortable with it - the armrest felt too high. I'm much happier now though.

I never really had a problem with the stereo/ac knobs, but glass buttons on the bottom row make a big difference. The last of the my15 vantage / DB9 has the same knobs but are in a dark powder coat. Perhaps this could be the answer if you're going to town on the whole 'black' look!

Enjoy!!

Thanks!

Agreed that I need to get used to the car, the standard gear knob does seem to sit a lot lower however!

I pulled fuse 22 with the car off, can't say that it makes a difference?

Think it's 15 on the later ones.

Although the manual suggests fuse 22, it doesn't seem to have any impact on mine either. As others suggest, might be 15?

I haven't tried fuse 15 but the manual says that there is no fuse there!

Congrats on the new purchase. I bought my V12V in Dec and I absolutely love her! I originally had a secondary cat delete done which sounded much better but still was a bit tame. I then took her BR and had a primary cat decat done along with an engine remap. It now sounds amazing! Like a proper race car. It's not annoyingly loud but really makes the car sound alive. It was a must have mod for me. And the BHP increase also helped. Also looking to get rid of the Corsas and get some pilot super sports.

How do you get around the emissions test at MoT time? Get them refitted or is there an option less of a PITA?
