Does that mean the guy has a 0ne-77 and was selling it back to the factory. Is that right?

Sounds like he sold it back but I am surprised they would want it back, very odd.

I suspect it had a fault and he was trying to force them to buy it back

I think One-77 sales were direct from AML so is it a disgruntled who has got agreement from AML to buy it back??? Can't think of any other scenario that it is AML buYing it back. Perhaps they haven't paid up because they are trying to sell him a Vulcan wink

1-77 has a recurrent habit of burning the clutch. I have been told by a main dealer that sold one that AML keep a chap in Gaydon on pager duty to fly out with a great big tool bag to go replace the clutch in a car that has suffered clutch failure. Typical cause is attempting a three point turn on an incline. Think of how many V8 Vantage owners with sportshift report clutch burning in reverse. Now put something like 2.5 times the torque through that gearbox...

I suspect that the gentleman in Hampstead got the hump parking!

8%. Nice work if you can get it.

Article said:
The 50-year-old, from Hampstead, is asking for £1.6 million plus eight per cent annual interest.

When the writ was filed on June 17, the interest accrued was £31,210. With daily interest charged at £350, the amount Mr Devine says Aston Martin now owes him is an extra £50,000 on top of the purchase price.

I also like this bit:
Article said:
The writ states Mr Devine is “ready, able and willing to deliver the car into Aston Martin’s possession in exchange for payment of the price agreed”
So the car isn't yet in AM's possession and this bloke wants his cash yesterday?

There could also be terms and conditions against the sale. For example, if Aston had stipulated that mileage shouldn't increase by more than 10miles (as an example), yes he owns the car, but it could be that he's restricted in terms of driving it. These contracts can really be a bit awkward. We also don't know if he's put a deposit down on something else and the hold up on this sale is causing problems with a new purchase. It's easy to judge from the outside but as usual, these media reports are never wholly full of detail.

Chris.

I've never seen him and I live around there and see most nice cars in the area.

I suspect that he lives on Sheldon Avenue, Bishops Avenue or one of the roads with substantial off road parking over the top of the Heath. I lived in Highgate for ten years and I never saw your car and I doubt you ever saw mine!

Probably right. Didn't see yours. If he can afford that car, then that is probably where he lives. Courtenay is one of the others (with the gate and sentry box at the top).
