HI Guys,

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I'm a new Elise Driver. Only picked up the beast on Thursday. Cheers Nick Whale

I bought myself an S2 RaceTech in red with Sports Exhaust, I just wish I'd bought one ages ago.

First things first for all you people that are sitting on the fence debating on if you should by your self that nice shiny Lotus. DO IT!!
It will be the best thing you will ever spend your money on!

Right on to the reason for me posting this message. does anybody know the cause of why my Exhaust is rattling when I accelerate to about 3500RPM. It also rattles when I lift off the accelerator and the revs drop to around the 3000rpm mark.

I've not noticed the rattle below this RPM and once I'm past 3500 RPM its fine. I know it's an Elise and there supposed to rattle and make a bit of noise, but before I test out my warrenty I just want to check with you guys if you know what the prob is.

Cheers.

Oh by the way if your woman can't stand the idea of you buying an Elise, then do what I've done and just ban her from coming anywhere near your car.

Welcome to the fold.

It sounds like you just need an anti tizz bracket which stops the resonance that you can get from sports exhausts.

You can get them from eliseparts.com. Not that expensive and supposed to be fairly easy to fit if you are familiar with a set of spanners.

Not got one on mine though even though I have a rather loud exhaust.

It could be as simple as the exhaust tips rattling against the steel mesh at the back of the car. The rattling gets louder as the vibrations increase. I had to have this adjusted on mine.

Mine does the same but at 2500rpm, always there on accelerating and slowing down give it a few weeks and forget about it.

Cheers guys,

Is it a case of sending the car back to Nick Whale to get it fitted? or is it a D.I.Y job?

Plus is it a warrenty issue.

I was out and about the other Saturday and I drove past it parked on the forecourt.

It's only done 6900 miles and is in Mint condition, so I jumped in feet first and part ex'd my mini and picked it up on the Thursday.

If you have got the photo's you used on here then I would be most grateful if you could mail them across. I'm quite sad when it comes to taking photo's of my car.

Can't wait for the summer so I can drive it with the roof off

Cheers

2 rules of "roof-off" Elise driving:

1) If its not raining - take it off
2 If it is raining - drive faster so the rain doesn't get in!

Right Finished work at 1:00pm So I took Mustards advice and whipped out the hat.

a few mins later, and I'm driving out of the car park with no Roof freezing my balls off!

I see what you mean when you say it's like driving two different cars.

Oh and because of the wind noise I can't hear my Exhaust Rattle at 3000rpm

So in answer to my own Post.......Drive without your roof on.

Cheers

For all your Help
