I've just moved into a new (to me) flat. I'd like to get a TV signal to my PC from the lounge (where the aerial point is).

Is there a way of doing this withough 50foot of cable? I've seen a few gadgets around that trasmit signals around the place, would these do it straight out of an aerial plug?

I got a digisender from Argos some time ago. Signal quality is OK but not fantastic, although that could have something to do with all the electrical equipment in my office

These things works with SCART at both ends. The sending unit sits inline with the scart between the VCR/DVD/Sky. To get into the back of the PC I also had to purchase a modulator to turn the SCART signal from the digisender into RF for the PC card. Your best bet for one of these is somewhere like Maplin.

So you're looking at a setup along the lines of aerial -> VCR (or something), scart out -> digisender (sending unit, SCART) -> TV, scart in and at the other end digisender (receiving unit, SCART) -> modulator -> PC. This would have been easier to explain with a picture!

Another advantage of the digisender is that it also transmits the IR signal from the remote down to the sending unit (so you don't have to go downstairs to change the channel).

The one I tried worked on the same frequency band as cordless phones and wireless computer networks, so it might be an issue if you or your neighbours overlap each other.

Any reason why you can't just use a TV card for the PC and an indoor aerial then ?

Other than the signal being crap, no.

So putting the digibox on teh aerial point, and then the transmitter from there should be OK?

Sounds right to me, providing that the digibox has a scart output. And you can convert the scart on the receiver to something your PC card can take in.

Yep, that should work if you can find a UHF one I would guess most are RF, Composite Video like what comes out of a SCART socket.

Just be carefull what system you buy, if it is an analogue one* then others could pick up the signal as well.

Several people got caught out with this watch girly action and the family down the road getting the same pictures

Not sure how good the philips one is, but at least it is branded, I'll ask a friend who works for them.

*Not sure if they do digital ones now, or how secure they are.
