Really good write up

Interestingly the Speedmaster intake did ok, most people really slag these off!
I assume we are comparing ours to the LS6 intake?

Good read. Seems there is still a lot to be had. Always wanted a FAST setup on mine, but couldn't afford it. Pretty pleased with the gains the LS6 offered up over a stock LS1 though.

Would have been interested to see how the LS2 manifold compared.

You can try to justify the FAST to yourself in terms of increased noise wink

I moved from the FAST LSXR to the Holley Hi-Ram, as we weren't sure how far you could push a composite unit with turbos. Would have been useful to have this article back then, as it was just guesswork as to what would be the best aluminium intake. Had to trim the top inch or so off the lid to squeeze it under the stock hood, though.

Sold my truck intake for £40. Ugly, but obviously effective.

Yet to finish my Boost Performance aluminium intake (the one with the carbon runners). 102mm TB is sitting on the top, waiting for someone to fab up an adapter. One day...

Interesting read especially given my post with the graphs the other day.

Any reports you read...all seem to say the LS2 isnt very good, but the LS6 is the popular and more common one so worth a test

What was more interesting and obviously engine builds/specs will be different, is how poor the non OEM style intakes performed.

Carb intakes were particularly bad, the Edelbrock ProFlo was nothing to write home about, nor was the Hi Ram.

Well, unless you're engine goes above 7k....which most dont. SO any potential gain at the top, simply isnt worth it at the bottom.

IMO the best all rounder for the money on that test when you flick through all the graphs seems to be the Weiand intake. It doesnt excel anywhere, but does offer good gains almost everywhere compared to the rest, and new it's cheaper than the FAST intakes, which only seem to perform a little better, and again at the very top end.

I thought all 2004 onwards ls1 intakes where the same as ls6 intakes?
From what I have found ls6 intakes are mega popular on 00 onwards firebirds and camaros

If memory serves, 00 or 01 model year onwards received the LS6 style intake. So 98-00 Fbody's (Trans Am/Camaro) have the older LS1 style intake. But I think a different cam. Same is true for C5 Corvettes.

Yea, most from around 01+ had LS6 intakes.

But there are so many variations, sometimes you never know !

The Atomic does sort of look good, still undecided. Be interesting to hear if it will handle boost.
