Hello can anyone tell me if these will be a straight fit without any spacers ? and also what size discs and pads would I need to purchase.

Thinking of having them refurbished by BIGG RED before fitting, does anyone have any experience of using them?

Chris

Found out they are off a 500 Chimp if any help

It's the height or offset of the discs that dictates whether spacers are required not the callipers / carriers.

If you're looking to upgrade - what I assume is an S3 - then go for the mk6 Fiesta ST callipers and carriers. These bolt straight on and can be used with a 278mm diameter disc with a height/offset of 53mm. If you fit the Fiesta ST discs you'll need a 6mm spacer and the discs are 47mm offset/height.

I picked up a complete ST front set up for £50 off ebay. Callipers, carriers, pads, braided hoses and discs.

Thanks Mike to the rescue again smile
I'm glad you said "Yes" because they are speeding their way to BIGG RED as we speak.

Just had a look at their website, looks like calipers are their thing, not all the other bits to go with them!

If you're sticking to road use then I can recommend EBC Ultimax or Greenstuff pads. Noticeable improvement over OEM pads BUT are very dusty.

EBC Yellowstuff are less dusty but I find they lack 'cold' bite. Tamy came with them fitted and there's a noticeable improvement in performance when they get warm - ie on the track.

Others disagree with me, IMHO, for a road car that may do one trackday a year Ultimax or Greenstuff are the options to choose from.

Brummie runs a performance company - I forget which one - and they sell Carbon Lorraine pads which are supposed to be low dust, excellent cold performance and excellent hot performance. Once Tamy's and Suni's pads need replacing I will most likely be fitting these.

Samy will remain on Greenstuff pads as a, I don't mind the dust on Samy and b, they are more than adequate performance wise for my needs.

As for discs - Ferodo items work fine for me. Eurocar Parts can supply you just need to quote the Ford model they came from - the 260mm ones are from a Granada 2.9 I think.

Also the brake fluid. I use DOT 5.1 on all my cars and bikes as it means I only have one open container at a time. A quality DOT 4.0 is fine too.

I've used Bigg Red for caliper remanufacture several times.

Always been happy with the job too.

Their fancy / most expensive coating was still looking good after 4 years of use.
