Hoping to buy an oldish RS6 2003 running 255/35/19s which will need replacing soon, anyone got any comments on tyre choice when aiming for fast road use, no track days? Also, brake pad choice/advice? Thanks in advance

Or Goodyear F1 AS2's. I used both on my '03 RS6 and found that as the weather gets wetter & colder the AS2's were ideal and as the summer comes around the MPSS were better. Either tyre would easily be good enough.

Hi again!

I'm currently running Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta on my RS6.
More than happy with them.

Is 'Old Knobbly' an issue? I just chucked some uniroyal rainsports on my saloon and then read about tyres that are damaged by it. I'm on the standard 255/35 19 size with coil overs. No one seems to have tried uniroyals.

I'm now paranoid old knobbly is basically going to grind down brand new tyres in an afternoon!

Does it make any difference what ride height you choose?

It effects lowered cars more than stock height ones but it's only a 10minute job to remove "ole knobbley" with a grinder once the wheel is off. I had mine done as soon as I bought it (at the 1st service I think) and never had any issues when I changed to coilovers with a slight height drop.

Mine is roughly standard ride height now so hopefully it won't be an issue anyway smile
