I discovered on mine that instrument readings, especially the rev counter, are affected by what else you have switched on at the time - I could make my rpm reading go up by 500 just by switching the wipers on, for example. I could get a 1,000 higher reading when the cooling fan cut in! I thought it was an earthing problem at the time (can't find the thread though)
At the weekend I cleaned a main chassis earth under the front nearside wheelarch, and the rev counter seems to be fine now. See the diary at www.tvrgit.com for details.

Couple of points Derek
Book of road tests says S1 / S2 run at 23.3 mph per 1000 rpm, while V8S was 26.9 mph per 1000 rpm.
My speedo ran fast when had problem with the multi connector under the steering column. Couldn't see fault until connectors were undone but was actually burnt out inside the block. Has been fine since replaced the block - 3000 rpm shows about 70 ish
