Hmmm chicken madras, chicken balti, chicken vinadloo, chicken tikka masala, chicken jalfrezi; blackbean chicken, green curry chicken. No? How about chicken & pasta bake. Chicken Risotto?

Chicken chicken chicken.

fk me I've realised it must be the cheapest meat out there cos try buying a fking indian or similar that isn't chicken these days from a major supermarket. Tossers. Am I right? I presume the reason (for them) is price. That and their inability to make sure lamb or beef isn't actually fking horsemeat.

Thing is lamb is really really cheap when its in season so buy it then and freeze it.

Also chicken on the bone is far tastier than cheap breast meat.

Yep, this pisses me off too. Nothing but chicken curries in the supermarket. Now, I like chicken a lot, but not when it comes to curries - give me a nice lamb madras every day. Or prawn. Or anything, horse, goat, hamster... just not fking chicken!

Why would you buy ready meals, they are vile and taste of nothing.

Take some time to learn to cook, you can make amazing meals within 30mins with little / zero preparation especially if you are a fan of Asian style cuisine (stir fry's / friend dishes).

Have a look here if you want 'authentic' take-away at home.

Maybe cook things yourself rather than eating nasty ready meals?

Et voila, no more chicken!

Take some time to learn to buy your own bread, you can make amazing sandwiches within 3mins with little / zero preparation especially if you are a fan of American style cuisine (pastrami & pickles, peanut butter and jam).

" Within 30 mins. "

That's why. Sometimes I just want something that's ready in 5 mins, because I have other stuff to do. And you can't say that ALL ready meals are "vile and taste of nothing" - that's patently untrue and merely a sweeping generalisation, driven by snobbery. There are many tasty and nutritious ready meals out there.

And I don't need to take time to learn to cook - I can cook very well, thank you. What I CAN'T do is magic up time from thin air when I only have 10 mins to grab something to eat before I have to go elsewhere.

Chicken is middle of the road and doesn't put people off. It the "ready salted" of meats. And it's cheap because of the intensive production methods.
Personally I avoid it at all times when eating out and rarely cook it at home- so much more flavour with pork/lamb/beef/game/offal.

On the bone thighs, free range and it works well. Or a dirty KFC for those hungover afternoons.

I know this is an old post/thread but I disagree; sandwich variations aside from Chicken include Ham, Cheese (or both with Mustard), Prawn Cocktail, Tuna Mayo, All Day Breakfast, Cheese & Pickle, Turkey and Stuffing (usually seasonally available) that's 8 sandwiches off the top of my head that can be bought from pretty much any shop.

In this response to the thread in general, ready meal variations; Bangers & Mash, Lasagne, Spaghetti Carbonara, All Day Breakfast, Beef in Black Bean sauce, Cottage Pie, Shepherd's Pie, Fish Pie, that's 8 ready meals off the top of my head that aren't Chicken based.

I didn't say it was cheaper than chicken.. That's not how food works anyway, you could use half the lamb in the meal and add more veg, to keep it the same price...

Anyway, OP stop eating ready meals. Big batches of chilli, spag bol, have a steak (aldi) etc

...and relatively cheap and comparatively healthy compared to having too much red meat in your diet (if the tree hugging radicals are to be believed).
