lack of colour in the Cayman?
Discussion
Just been perusing the Cayman in the classifieds and it strikes me that almost every other car is either siver of black. Was a there a distinct lack of colour options or did people just play safe on the colour for re-sale value?

Never understood why you'd be coy about owning a Porsche.
1) Because many (non- Porsche owners) regard Porsche owners as posers. AND/OR
2) Many owners are having a midlife crisis (or even an OA crisis) and may prefer to be discreet about it.

There are people who want to make an (obvious) statement, and others who prefer to be discreet. It's similar to the pro/anti farty exhaust debate. How does the saying go? You only get one chance to make a first impression and Porsches can give a bad one. Let's be honest some Porsche owners DO buy them to impress others.Edited by bcr5784 on Thursday 13th August 17:20
Just ordered a new Boxster GTS in Racing Yellow, with Racing Yellow role over bars, Racing Yellow seat belts, Racing Yellow instrument dials, Racinng Yellow Sports Chrono Clock, Racing Yellow dash & door card inserts, Racing Yellow centre console trim. So should not look to dull & boring lol.

I think you are assuming that I am worrying - I'm merely saying why I think some people would prefer not to have an in your face colour. Some people tweet, live their lives on Facebook, post pictures of their cars, do selfies left right and centre - and others prefer to be more private. To what extent does this simply reflect the fact that silver and black were the fashionable choices across all manufacturers a few years ago? Equally, white seems to be back in now so perhaps the classifieds will reflect that in a few years?
So I'm not sure this a particularly Porsche thing - in fact my observation is that Porsches on the whole can be found in a wider range of colours than most marques.
Paint to sample on the current GT cars has been so popular they've had to close the book! Have a look at the extensive threads on GT4 colours on here - don't think people have been shy!!
My OPC always has a bright array of different colours in the shop and they seem to sell very well.
It's a personal thing anyways - I'm always pleased to hear the story behind why someone chose a car in a particular colour.

This quarter's Christophorus has a colour chart for each iteration of 911 at it's launch date. 993 has the darkest range. G Series the brightest by far (no black or silver at all). It's stayed pretty conservative since then, really, with the exception of Turquoise for the 996. They also share their thoughts on what the different colours 'mean' - it's quite a fun read.

Got a link?
Unfortunately not - they haven't put that article up in the online edition yet although they say every couple of weeks they will add one - it is here: http://www.porsche.com/uk/aboutporsche/christophor...I think there is an iPad version - there used to be anyway.
