Has anyone used the latest version of the project and if what are there thoughts? It seems a good package with given carbon arm and Ortofon 20 Red cartridge.

I will be upgrading my aging Dual CS503.2 shortly for similar MM/Belt driven set up as I still enjoy playing vinyl alongside other digital formats.

Also I note the same hi-fi products are generally -25% cheaper to buy from Germany (probably Euro rate FX) but I can't find a definitive answer on the duty & VAT position if I buy from there within the EU?

I have the Carbon Esprit and am very impressed with it. Comes with a decent cartridge and looks great with the acrylic platter - also minimal static. I'd recommend it.

There should be no duty whatsoever if you are buying from inside the EU. I recently bought an Okki Nokki record cleaner from Holland where is was about £100 cheaper than here. Free postage as well!

VAT can be negated too if you ask for a price including 'local taxes'.

You'll get German VAT added which is virtually the same as UK VAT. They can't legally leave the vat off unless you have a UK vat number and you pre-inform them of it.

You might also pick up a charge for the currency exchange on your credit card.

I'm running a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Esprit through my hifi. Absolutely recommended!!! Within that budget range, very musically sounding machine.

Great feedback thanks - looks like a good package.

I guess the other question which presents itself is the power supply for an EU based product I imagine will be 2 pin. I anticipate that a proper converter would be sufficient as they both run (UK & EU) 220-250v and both have an earth just in a different format - again any knowledge would be useful and if the UK supplied version has a transformer on the plug?

The cost differential can't be ignored saving £65.00 on this item, although I need to consider any costs due to any differences such as the plug but I can't think of any others. Germans also appear to have the latest SB version with improved power supply & motor!

Have you got a link to the item? Do you know if it includes German VAT, in which case you are laughing, other than credit card charges of course?

In terms of power, it should simply be a case of swapping the plugs over, or if it's a power supply, just buying a 3 pin to IEC or Figure 8 cable, if it has a separate power cable of course.
