As I am still unable to speak of the hell which followed, I tell my tale through pictures.

Nope, sorry, no idea what happened to your watch. I've been asleep all day.

Must have been the cat.

Once upon a time, we got a puppy. He's a basset cross named Chester. When he was a young puppy I was tasked with looking after him while my beloved went to collect the youngest from school (an hour and a half as she walks everywhere!). Eager to learn as much about watches as possible, I had an old Seiko automatic laid out on a huge tray, with all the watch tools I possess and 'Practical watch repairing' open at the relevant pages all laid out on the floor.

The pup was fast asleep and snoring next to me so I was safe to 'crack on'...

I had completely stripped the watch down to gears and springs and screws and tiny components all beautifully laid out in front of me, all arranged logically so that there was a fighting chance I would get it all back together. Obviously it would never work again, but hey...

My wife came home with the youngest and the dog remained snoring by my side so I nipped into the kitchen to say 'Hello' and was gone no more than 90seconds.

When I got back, yes, Chester had eaten the lot... well not the case, but he was chewing on that purposefully. For weeks after he was pooing gears and cogs and springs. Strangely, I was never inclined to sift through to get the components re-united!

He is now known as 'The Watchdog!'

My wife used to think is was very funny that our dog would occasionally chew up my shoes. Untill it was her expensive ones that got attacked. That wasn't very funny, for her at least, then.

It was though just a phase the dog went through. We quikcly learnt what would be attacked given half the chance. So we make sure we keep the offending items out of reach, mainly its bits of tissue and plastic bags.

We all deal with our grief in different ways.

I could only see one way out of the hellish reality of my predicament.

Isn't it just the strap?
My pup took £50 out of my wallet (off the dining table) and chewed them up. Hsbc swapped them for new ones. They said they "get a lot of that" when we explained it was dogging related

It looks like you're selling the watch for £1.99?

If you are, I'll have it for sure! laugh

If not, I'd probably change the advert
