What an idiot! It's not an oil pump I need it's a timing cover!
The inlet manifold has been repaired at some time and there is a big lump of weld underneath just behind the thermostat housing. This has pressed down on the top of the timing cover and cracked it resulting in the oil leak.
Has anyone ever tried welding one of these covers?
Or does anyone have one for sale?
Bill

Should be weldable (by some one who knows what they're doing) or even bodgeable with Chemical Metal

Obviously the lump that has caused the problem will need filing back a bit but so much that starts leaking!

With your job losing a bit of oil shouldn't be too much of a problem!
