Hey, I dont frequent this forum very often, but hopefully you can help!

Ok story as short as possible...My friend gave an ex the spare key to his car (before she was an ex) Now that they have broken up she is refusing to give the key back. He now has to get his neighbours to block the car in every night.

Is it possible to lock out the spare key without having possession of it? Also, what is the cheapest way of doing this? I have found a couple of specialists online that claim they can do it but they want specialist money for it so i was hoping someone would know a cheaper solution? (other than sending her up the OXO tower smile )

EDIT: Its an A4, not A3! sorry

The alternative to spending specialist money would be to spend main dealer money. Audi computer to car, tell car key B is a Bad Thing, and shiny new key C is a Good Thing.
Its going to be eyewatering, but lesson learned.

Audi quoted me £80 of coding time (half an hour) to code in a new key and remove the old one, not including cost of replacement key. If he only wants the old key deactivating then that's all it should cost.

Where in the country are you? A specialist would probably charge less than half that amount for a simple re-code.

Out of interest Dr G, can you recommend one in Hants/Surrey/Berks area? My S4 didn't come with the plastic emergency key but it's still coded in to the car. Not that fussed about replacing it just want to remove it from memory.
