Wasting armed response time
Discussion
Was lying in bed the other night and head alot of shouting 'get back inside now'
Looks out the back and a house is lit up by the lights mounted to the weapons of several armed police. It appears they were telling neighbours to go back inside.
After a few minutes a chap willingly walks out with his hand up who was briskly whisked off. Anyway this went on for about another 30 mins then they all casually packed up and left.
As I could only see the rear of the house I assumed they went in through the front and confirmed all clear. Only the next day northumbria Police posted on Facebook that it was a hoax and residents need not be concerned. They then asked with anybody with information to call 101.
Was just wondering what sort of punishment could be expected from such a hoax if they manage to find the culprit?

My teenage nephew and some friends fired a BB gun at some neighboors windows many years ago. They were taken to the police station and given a severe dressing down.
I became involved as they wanted to speak to all of the parents, my nephew was staying with his grand parents at the time and did not want to involve them.
I went to the police station and it was explained to him how the armed police were on the way to the incident and but for a normal sargeant getting involved before they arrived and realising it was kids with a BB gun that they could have been confronted by an armed response vehicle.
The police handled the matter in a well balanced way taking into account their fairly young ages and the message certainly got through to them. It was very clear that had this not been kids the police would throw the book at them.

Considering making a hoax call to 999 can lead to fines of £5k yet they continually release details of people dialing 999 for a lift home or to complain about their pizza being cold instead of actually charging them i'd say sod all. Big difference between complaining about your pizza being cold (stupid but true) and calling the police to say someone has a gun (stupid and a lie).Several years ago (just after Hungerford), two guys I was at college with were pulled out of their flat in Rose Street, central Edinburgh by big men with big guns after they had been hanging out the windows squirting passing shoppers with AK-47 lookalike water-guns.
Someone had taken offence at their actions and called the plod to complain; either plod misunderstood or just thought they would f
k them up for a laugh.
They were even required them to appear before the bursar to explain their actions since it impacted on the good reputation of the college (although the following year, said college was merged with the local hairdressing, nail-polishing and advanced brick making f
kwit remedial centre).

Usually teens call 999(911) saying that someone has been firing off rounds at people out of the window or something at XYZ address, causing an armed SWAT response. The reason it gained popularity was that a few people done it to folks who where live streaming computer games and they where dragged to the floor by heavily armed SWAT officers on a live video stream.
The culprits are usually caught because they are usually too retarded to use a throwaway phone and opt to use there own mobile or home phones. I believe the punishment for such a crime is rather high.

A long time ago a group of friends were dragged out of their car by armed response and chucked in the cells overnight for brandishing BB guns out of the window. Severe telling off and embarassing phone calls to their parents was about as far as it went.
Hehe standard cops in the UK REALLY dont like dealing with firearms. Ive witnessed it when I was in the car with my friend who was going a wee bit fast on the way home just coming into Dumfermlin from a small hunting trip (nabbing rabbits up on the Cairngorms). He has a FAC and a shotgun cert and had a shotgun and a .22 LR hunting rifle in his boot & I had my .22 non-FAC requiring air rifle (no paperwork needed as of pre July 2015
) aswell, all sealed in a box and bag (entirely legal). Anywho if you have apropriate paperwork and you are transporting weaponry you must tell officers IMMEDIATLY as you are pulled over, it literally has to be the first words out of your mouth is "I'm carrying X Y and Z with paperwork". If you dont police are legally aloud to drag you out of the car and arrest you on the spot if they spy one through a window or something.Luckly my friend was driving when we where pulled and listed off his paperwork. The 2 cops that pulled us said they where really sorry but they would have to call firearms to search our vehicle if that was the case. (my friend later told me that this was bulls
t they just had no idea what to do), we then had to wait 25 minutes in the back of the panda car with 1 of the 2 traffic plod walking around my mates car kicking the tyres and the other one standing outside the door of the panda car occasionally popping his head in to make small talk. The panda wagon eventually arrived and 3 extremely cheerful officers stepped out in full body armor complete with holstered sidearms. The armed guys where actually really nice they gave my friends paperwork a once over then allowed my friend to open up all his weaponry and show it off to them under supervision, one of them had some choice words with me about my method of transportation citing that it wasnt ideal but not enough to cause any serious worry because... and I quote "I look like I had the right intentions". He was refering to the fact I didnt have a lockbox and was just using an rifle slip bag with the zips padlocked.
The armed guy then said that he would "happly let us on our way unless my colleagues in traffic need to arrest you for anything serious" to which the traffic guys just waved us along and told us to take it easy.
So yeah TLDR have licensed firearms in your car to get out of minor traffic tickets

I was thinking more like he wanted to know if he could get away with making a false call or summit.
But ok.
You might want to edit the actual website name out of your post before mods see it.
It's forbidden to mention that website.
We dare not speak its name.......A bit like Voldermort in Harry Potter, particularly if he knew a few good spells for cracked nipples But ok.

Really? I just chuck my air rifle in the boot in a rifle slip, no padlocks on the zips, no trigger locks, nothing.

Law changed recently in Scotland so yoou have to have a FAC for air rifles. No change in the law in England and Wales yet (obvious exceptions to over 12 ft/lb and brocock type air rifles)And you now need paperwork for a non FAC air rifle now? Ahh of course, for whatever reason I missed the bit about Dumfermlin
Seems daft that you have to have an FAC for a 'pop gun' and not a crossbow (or have they changed that as well).

One of my best mates and a few his mates after a few afternoon beers decided in a flash of stupidity it would be fun to fire a few BBs into the Lincoln marina from a flat balcony.I became involved as they wanted to speak to all of the parents, my nephew was staying with his grand parents at the time and did not want to involve them.

The flat owner, who'd just gone to the shops for a pack of fags, came back from the shops to find 2 armed response officers outside the flat entrance, his flat door smashed in with his 3 mates face down on the floor with guns pointed at them.
Case dropped after 3 attempts from the prosecution to find something to charge them with. Flat owner had £300 worth of BB guns confiscated.
Local media claimed they were shooting swans. Sadly for him, we all find it hilarious, 5 years later it is still the numer one result on google when you search his name.
